On July 1st 2023, The Online Cricket Gaming Tournament Finals were held at Majidun Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria.
The United Kingdom, UK, government through Brighter Futures programme, has launched the Thrive Online campaign, as part of efforts to curb the rising tide of cyber-related crimes in Nigeria.
The Thrive Online campaign aims to reach vulnerable youths and educate them on the dangers of cybercrime while providing alternative pathways to building sustainable livelihoods.
After 10 weeks of students accessing world class cricket coaching videos on how to coach cricket, in class demonstration, question and answers sessions and our crime prevention partnership chairman Mr Adekunle engaging the students on topics surrounding the dangers of serious organised crimes such as yahoo or yahoo yahoo plus better known as online fraud within Nigeria and Ikorodu to continue the message of reducing crime and increasing participation and saying NO to Cybercrime.
During the 10 weeks students were introduced to online gaming using a playstation to develop their communication skills and ability to work in a team under pressure. Today was the finals betwen the best players on the console having played knockouts days earlier.
