Lagos cricket head coach begun the process of putting together high performance squads for boys and girls at under 15 for the upcoming national youth games and Under 17 for future league matches and older players whom are coaching assistants to help the HP players develop.
Not all players were present and despite the heavy rain coach Jones was able to see some players play.
"We are very fortunate at CMS Grammar school due to the Prinicpal there is indoor and outdoor facilities to train so even during the rainy season we will still be able to train." Coach Jones said.
"A mixture of boys and girls training for various tournaments or leagues knowing everytime they come to train they will be challenged to give their best and leave their comfort zone, this is the way the players will improve. Today despite the rain there were glimpses of players challenging one another with bat and ball and this is the sort of competitive environment in which will bring the best out of one another, it's only day 1 and we have a long way to go in terms of moulding and more players to join and challenge for positions so these are exciting times as head coach." Jones continues
"For those whom are not quite ready to be training with the HP squad all is not lost. There is also a developmental training session on Saturday mornings at Unilag for players to improve their techinque and be retrailled at a later date."
